The Vineyard Church in Des Moines is at its core missional, helping people to find a deep meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ and their purpose in this world.

There is no sadder existence than to be irrelevant, that is, to have no purpose and to feel you don’t make a difference. This relates both to an individual, a family and to a church.

It is our hope and desire to exist to make a difference in the lives of the people we touch, to influence the spiritual landscape of our city, and to see God’s Kingdom come to our families, city, and beyond.

The Vineyard is made up of all types of people. People like you, people who are looking for more than just merely existing, people who are looking for purpose and many finding it in a relationship with God. Once they begin that journey they pursue it with passion.

We long to be a church that simply “experiences and gives away the truth, love and power of Jesus Christ” one heart, one family, one city at a time. C.S. Lewis the 20th century English author writes “The church exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ, to make them little Christ’s.”

Whatever it takes, however long it takes…..because people matter to God!

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4: 18-19

Today's Passage

1 Corinthians 13:1-3
“IF I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God's love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God's love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody). Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned or in order that I may glory, but have not love (God's love in me), I gain nothing.”
